Quarry Green

Thank you for your feedback. This consultation has concluded.

We have a plan to renew Quarry Green in Ultimo and create a new green space for everyone in the community to enjoy.

Thank you to everyone who looked at our concept design and gave us their feedback

We've incorporated your feedback into the design wherever possible and Council has approved the plans. We are planning to start construction in mid-2015.

Thanks for all your feedback on the concept design.

We've submitted your ideas to the project team and they will incorporate them into the design wherever possible.

We'll also collate all your ideas and include them in a report for Council to consider as the project progresses.

I have lived in this neighbourhood now for 20 years I am an aged carer for a resident in 88 quarry street and he has lived here for 80 years. The reason I love this area is the tremendous sense of community. Neighbours enjoying each others company, picnics, socialising and meeting new residents to the area. I think the concept design is boring and why bother doing anything at all, leave it the way it is if your not serious.
I would love a barbecue so we can continue to socialise with neighbours and new residents, I enjoy nothing more in the summer than putting out a rug with my dogs and having a glass of wine with friends . This is what quarry green is about people, Unfortunately there are one or two residents that don't like people, animals, or birds. They are of the opinion, the park is actually their front yard. I would like quarry green to be a central meeting area for all of the local Ultimo community.

The design looks nice enough as an artists impression. But, I kind of like the park as it is.
Like others below, I am concerned that the additional paving at Bulwara Rd will only encourage the ongoing stealthy creep of the pub's pot plants to extend their boundary and claim even more public space. An expansion of the drinking area doesn't do much for people living nearby. The pub is great because it's small and cosy. We shouldn't be encouraging a big outdoor drinking space. I also don't understand the rationale for all that paving when this part of town needs all the grass and vegetation it can get rather than hard dark surfaces to absorb and retain heat.
I do like the idea of a shared zone. Bulwara Rd carries many more people on foot than in cars. The shared zone should extend from William Henry St to Fig St. 10kms all the way thanks.
And thanks for the website feedback space. Great initiative!

While the design is quite aesthetic many residents who I've talked to feel that it is designed to turn the Green into a more effective thoroughfare (to link the future Darling Harbour and inevitable Wentworth Park development), rather than to create a better space to actually use.

These is nothing is this design plan to suggest more future usage of the Green, nothing to draw people to for use at the village green.

In the old days it was a grandstand or pagoda, nowadays it's more often BBQs and picnic areas - but even these basic facilities are omitted in the design.

Local residents should be able to host friends for social, outdoor-living occasions, in fact they should be encouraged.

Agree - something has to be done to stop pub patrons from drinking on the public park benches particularly in the warmer months and festive season. School children from Ultimo Primary School are walked next to the all the drinkers sat on the benches! Perhaps the proposed benches could be angled the other way to discourage drinkers from using them or some sort of barrier around the eight (?) approved seats for the Wolseley Hotel (Illustration seems to show more). Hopefully the Hotel will be willing to comply with Council's requirements in relation to its outdoor 8 seats eg drinking with food only, bringing chairs in at 8.30 pm so that there is no drinking in the park after this time etc. This is a positive project for the Ultimo Community and the design looks great - well done Council.

1. The design looks lovely but there is a lack of clarity over the design area between the two sections of the park ie: the road looks closed.

2. It would also be good to have the pub patrons stopped from annexing the public facilities ie, chairs and grass, for their drinking. As is the the case now
