Johnstons Creek Parklands

The City of Sydney is creating a long-term plan for Johnstons Creek Parklands that will link existing Glebe foreshore parks with future open space at The Crescent Annandale, the Hill near the Federal Park lightrail station and the new parklands in Harold Park.

The exhibition period for  the draft Master Plan for Johnstons Creek Parklands has now closed. We thank everyone who had their say on this important local project.

We will be looking at all your feedback, alongside technical and feasibility considerations as we refine the draft Master Plan. Once we have made our changes we will present the Master Plan to Council for endorsement.

Please stay tuned to this website for project updates.

Phase 3 of Consultation for the Master Plan for Johnstons Creek Parklands is launched

Phase 3 of Consultation for the Master Plan for Johnstons Creek Parklands is launched

Welcome to phase 3 of consultation for the Master Plan for the Johnstons Creek Parklands. In mid-2012 we asked how you use the parklands, what you like about them, what is not working and what you would like to see in the future. We used your feedback alongside technical studies to create a series of principals and strategies to address the key issues.

We consulted on the strategies with you in late 2012/ early 2013 and have used your feedback along with technical considerations to develop the Draft Master Plan for the Johnstons Creek Parklands.

We are now seeking your feedback on the Draft Master Plan, available in the Library. The exhibition period will run until Friday 17 May 2013.  Complete the survey or  come along to our community drop in session at Federal Park and Bicentennial Park on Saturday 4 May from 10am to 2pm.

Welcome to Phase 2 of Consultation

Welcome to Phase 2 of Consultation

Welcome to phase 2 of consultation for the master plan for the parklands along Johnstons Creek. In mid 2012 we asked how you use the parklands, what you like about them, what is not working and what you would like to see in the future. We now have two reports on the outcomes of consultation.

Key themes emerged around strengthening the area’s environmental values, the importance of access and circulation, cultural values and celebrating the area’s local heritage, well maintained facilities and amenities, the need to address the area’s future needs and the importance of balancing multiple uses including active and passive recreation.

We have used your feedback along with technical studies to develop some principals and strategies to address the key issues. For a comprehensive overview of the development of the principals and strategies, please see our presentation.

The strategies include:

  • Character and visual amenity
  • Transport, access and circulation
  • Recreation and community facilities
  • Environment
  • Hydrology, and
  • Heritage

We invite you to look over each strategy and give us your thoughts and comments. We have two options for giving feedback;

  • You can participate in our survey or,
  • If you would like to make general comments about the strategies, you can submit one of our 'Your Comments' forms.

Phase 2 of consultation will run until 14 January 2013.

Your feedback will be used alongside technical considerations to develop a draft master plan. This will be exhibited early 2013.

We invite you to get involved in the future of community and open space in Glebe and have your say!

Come along to our community workshop

We invite you to attend at a community workshop on the parklands around Johnsons Creek. The workshop will be held at St Scholastica’s College, 2-4 Avenue Road, Glebe on Saturday, 8 December 2012 from 1.30pm to 3pm.

The City is creating a long-term plan for these parklands, and earlier this year we consulted with the local community on how you use these parks. We heard your ideas for the parks’ future, how to make more space for wildlife, how to improve recreational, community and sporting facilities and how to improve the connections between parks.

We are now ready to report back on this consultation and present strategies and options which will help inform the draft master plan. Please join us at this community event to find out more and give your feedback.

Community Consultation Underway for Master Plan for the Parklands at Johnstons Creek

Community Consultation Underway for Master Plan for the Parklands at Johnstons Creek

Phase 1 of community consultation has begun on the creation of a master plan for the parklands along Johnstons Creek. We are seeking your feedback on how you use the open space in the area. We also want to know your interests, concerns and aspirations for the future of the parklands.

You can contribute to the consultation in a number of ways. We will be out surveying people in the parklands over the next month and a half. We also have online forums and comments forms and we will be conducting focus groups with sporting and community groups throughout July 2012.

We will finish phase 1 in August 2012. We will look at all of the community input along with site analyses, technical studies and budgetary requirements, and come up with options and strategies to address the needs, issues and opportunities identified in phase 1.

We will present these options and strategies to you for comment in phase 2 of consultation later this year.

So take this opportunity to have your say and contribute your ideas for the future of the Parklands at Johnstons Creek.
