Waranara Early Education Centre

Consultation has concluded

The Green Square area is one of the fastest growing in Sydney and will eventually be home to 60,000 residents.

There is a high demand for childcare within the community. The Outpatients Building within the former South Sydney Hospital Site has the capacity to house 1 of the 2 childcare centres required in the Green Square town centre. It is called the Waranara Early Education Centre. Waranara is a Gadigal word which means "to seek".

A Development Application for the childcare site was approved by Council in February 2015 and construction is underway and will be completed in mid 2017.

The new Green Square Child Care Centre will adaptively reuse the Outpatient Building to provide a 74-place long-day care centre that caters for children aged from 6 weeks to 6 years of age.

We are now accepting waiting list applications for the centre and welcome you to register your interest.

    About the design

The childcare centre will be part of an exciting new community space at Green Square. The design by Fox Johnson architects aims to retain the integrity of the existing building while incorporating a contemporary new addition and wrap-around verandah.

Thank you for your patience while we work on this important project for the Green Square area.
