Busking in the City of Sydney area

The City of Sydney’s new busking discussion paper draws on examples from some of the world’s best busking cities to identify ideas with the potential to make busking easier, while also managing potential impacts on nearby residents and businesses.

We're now calling on musicians, performers, residents, businesses, music industry representatives and government agencies to provide feedback on the paper and put forward ideas to help inform our new busking policy and future busking initiatives.

Ways to participate

There's a few ways to provide us with your views on busking and live street performance. Submissions will help the City not only update our current busking policy, but investigate developing a code of conduct, look at how we might work more closely with neighbouring councils and land owners, and support buskers through a range of initiatives.

  1. Take our poll
  2. Complete our quick online survey
  3. Provide a submission responding to the discussion paper

The busking discussion paper will be on public exhibition until 30th April. You can also email enquiries and submissions to Hugh Nichols.

Submissions by mail:
Chief Executive Officer, Attn: Strategy Advisor - Live Music and Performance
City of Sydney, GPO Box 1591, Sydney NSW 2001.
Submissions should quote reference: Busking in the City of Sydney.
