Sydney Park

After consultation with the community, the Sydney Park Plan of Management 2014 has been adopted by Council.

The City is now working on projects included in the plan. This includes new childcare facilities as part of our ongoing commitment to create quality childcare in the inner city.

The latest project under the plan of management is to move and redesign the children’s bike track.

    Following community feedback, we’ve designed a new and improved bike track next to the Sydney Park Cycling Centre.

    The new bike track will include:

    - Wider paths with multiple routes;
    - New hills, bumps, bridges and dips for young riders to explore; and
    - Objects to enhance imaginative play, including stop and go lights.

    The shade structure next to the Sydney Park Cycling Centre will be relocated to make room for the new bike track and provide more riding area when there are no courses on.

    We’re also planning a new childcare centre nearby, extra public toilets and picnic and BBQ facilities with seating for families.

    We are inviting feedback on the revised design which you can view here. Submit your comments here by the 14 November.

    A development application for the childcare centre will be available for public comment in late 2014. You can receive updates on development applications, including this one, by subscribing to the DA listings newsletter.

    We're pleased to report that the plan was adopted by Council in May 2014.

    Since 2011, the City has consulted extensively with the community on specific projects including the City Farm, an urban ecology action plan, and stormwater harvesting and reuse strategies. Outcomes and community values emerging from these consultations have been considered in developing this plan and will continue to inform the values, directions and strategies of projects through its development and implementation. There will be ongoing opportunities for consultation as these projects are developed and implemented.

    Public feedback on the draft plan of management is fundamental to delivering the key objectives for each category of land. Through the draft plan, the City will continue to engage, collaborate and provide opportunities to include our community.
