Two new city centre cycleways are now open, giving riders a separated 2.5-kilometre link from Central Station to the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Around 7,000 people ride to work in the city centre each day – the equivalent of 116 full buses or seven Sydney trains. These cycleways will help take the pressure off public transport and create more space on the roads for those who need to drive.
Follow the signs and signals for a safe and easy journey.
It will take some time for pedestrians and car drivers to get used to the new cycleways. Stay alert and look out for people walking onto the cycleway, and for cars at driveways.
This cycleway runs between Belmore Park (Central station) and Liverpool Street.
The NSW Government will extend the cycleway from Liverpool Street to King Street after light rail construction is completed.
This cycleway runs from Castlereagh Street to the Kent Street cycleway.
Bike riders travelling from the eastern suburbs can continue from Oxford Street down Liverpool to join the cycleway at Castlereagh Street.
When travelling from Kent Street back to Oxford, the best option is to ride up Bathurst Street to reach Hyde Park.
