Proposed Ticket Parking - Area 15 Paddington

The City of Sydney invites feedback on a proposal to introduce ticket parking on all residential streets in Area 15, West Paddington.

Area 15 is bounded by Flinders Street, Oxford Street, Greens Road and Moore Park Road. Most of the area is currently signposted as one hour (1P) parking from 8am-2am, 7 days a week with an exemption for Area 15 permit holders. Parts of the eastern side of Greens Road next to Victoria Barracks is signposted as four hour (4P) parking from 8am to 12 midnight seven days a week with an exemption for Area 15 permit holders. You can view our map of Area 15.

Proposed changes
We intend to introduce ticket parking on all residential streets in Area 15 (excluding South Dowling, Flinders and Oxford Streets). The one hour and four hour time limits would remain unchanged as part of this proposal. Residents, visitors and businesses with valid parking permits for Area 15 would also be exempt from the proposed ticket parking charges.

This proposal intends to improve compliance and parking availability for local residents and visitors. We have prepared answers to some frequently asked questions you might find helpful.

Background
In June 2016, the Lord Mayor met with local business and community representatives to discuss parking solutions for the area. Ticket parking was identified as an option that better balances the parking needs of residents and supports local businesses.

Parking survey
A parking survey was undertaken in August for all streets within Area 15, every hour from 8am-12 midnight on a Wednesday and a Saturday. These surveys found limited parking availability and a high prevalence of overstay activity by non-permit holding vehicles. The survey confirmed ticket parking would be a viable solution for Area 15. You can view the Area 15 parking survey.

Feedback
We welcome your feedback on the changes. Please fill in the survey below or refer to the submissions box to the right of this page to email/post your submission. The exhibition period closes 5pm Friday 2 December 2016.

Next steps
The City will review all submissions and if supported, the proposal will be referred to the next available meeting of the Local Pedestrian, Cycling and Traffic Calming Committee (LPCTCC) for consideration. Residents and businesses will be notified via letterbox drop on the outcome of the consultation prior the meeting.
