Sydneysiders helping shape parks and recreation

Inspiration for playground designs

Your involvement in helping to plan for and design our parks and open spaces is a key part of the way we do things at the City of Sydney. We are proud of our track record of working with the community to help deliver new and improved parks, open spaces and sports and recreation facilities, from small playgrounds and pocket parks, to landmark facilities such as the Gunyama Park Aquatic Recreation Centre coming to Green Square.

Our community engagement process helps us to ensure our designs meet the needs, insights and aspirations of the local community - to make sure it's a place that you want to go and use!

Typically, our approach involves sharing our concept design, working with local students, schools and youth organisations, seeking online feedback here at SydneyYourSay, or speaking with the community at pop ups in local parks and shopping centres.

Your feedback is then collated and considered by architects, project managers and design managers, to help refine, shape and develop the design before it is presented to the Council for endorsement. Community involvement is a key strategy direction in the draft Study, so thanks for being part of our community engagement process. Sign up to SydneyYourSay to stay involved and help shape Sydney.
