Consultation has concluded

Council endorsed the market policy and guide to setting up markets on 29 June 2015, after it was approved by the Cultural and Community Committee on 22 June.

We invite your comments on our proposed Draft Markets Policy. Along with the policy there is a new Guide to Setting up a Market on Council Land. These two documents aim to provide helpful information and guidelines on the fee structures for existing and potential market operators as well as application assistance.

The draft policy and guide:

  • Provide a clear step-by-step guide for establishing markets;
  • Introduce a new fee structure;
  • Outline the process for approving new market proposals including consultation;
  • Provide advice on how to submit an application and plan your market.

The City supports markets and acknowledges the many benefits for the community and operators. Provide us your thoughts using the comment form below.
