Recognising Sydney's Industrial heritage

On 22 January 2016, Sydney Local Environmental Plan 2015 was amended to add 57 new heritage items and two new conservation areas. Together, this lists more than 100 industrial and warehouse buildings in the Sydney local area.

Following consultation with the community and government agencies during 2015 and revisions to the proposed listings in response to submissions, the Council and Central Sydney Planning Committee approved this planning proposal in November 2015.

These listings recognise the heritage value of old industrial buildings in the City of Sydney and encourage their re-use as part of future plans.

The inventories for these new listings will be available from the NSW online heritage database.
