Employment lands draft planning controls and affordable housing program

Consultation has concluded

Closed for comment

The City of Sydney invited submissions for proposed changes to zoning and other planning controls in the City of Sydney employment lands.

The employment lands are located mostly in Alexandria and Rosebery. They also include areas along Parramatta Road, Glebe, and the Moore Park Supa Centa on South Dowling Street.

These areas will undergo substantial change in the next 20 years. The proposed changes will oversee a transition from traditional industrial uses and low-density employment to more diverse business and employment opportunities. The changes will also provide the opportunity for more affordable housing.

The public exhibition included a draft planning proposal to amend the Sydney Local Environmental Plan 2012(Sydney LEP 2012), an associated draft amendment to the Sydney Development Control Plan 2012, and the draft employment lands affordable housing program.

If Council approves this planning proposal following public exhibition, it can amend the Sydney LEP 2012 on behalf of the Minister for Planning.

The draft planning controls and program were on public exhibition until 15 December 2014. After the exhibition period the City will consider all submissions received and the outcomes of the exhibition will be reported to Council and the Central Sydney Planning Committee.

Exhibition details

The exhibition period closed on 15 December 2014. Submissions closed at the end of the exhibition period.
