The City is working with the Powerhouse Museum and the community on plans for a new City Farm - a place for food production and learning in the heart of Sydney. The proposed sites for the City Farm are near the historic brick kilns and chimneys at Sydney Park, St Peters and we are investigating sites around the Powerhouse Museum, Ultimo.
An Advisory Group with community representatives has been formed to provide advice and feedback during the planning process. Thanks to everyone who has provided feebdack about the City Farm. Our online discussion forum closed on 4 September. We have had lots of input on your ideas for community involvement, sustainability and education. A summary of community feedback is now available in the Library.
The City Farm Summer Garden was held at Sydney Park from January 19 to 24 March 2013. The Summer Garden was a taste of what the final City Farm could offer, with a kitchen garden, market garden, small scale crops, as well as a great program of fun and educational weekend activities. A team of more than 60 volunteer City Farmers looked after the garden over 12 weeks.

Volunteer city farmers wanted for Summer Garden
If you’re a bit of a green thumb or you want a closer look at how to maintain some of the unique produce at the City Farm Summer Garden why not become a volunteer? There is a roster of official ‘City Farmers’ being created now to contribute some weeding and watering man power at the site in Sydney Park. City Farmers will be important ambassadors for the City Farm and the Summer Garden, and it's a great way to meet new people and learn more about gardening and production.

Summer Garden coming to Sydney Park
The next activity for the city farm is a Summer Garden at Sydney Park from 19 Jan - 31 March 2013. The garden, with opportunities for voluntering as a City Farmer, or joining in a great range of weekend workshops, will be a taste of the future city farm. We will update this page with the program when available. If you would like to register as a volunteer City Farmer to help maintain the garden, email cityfarm@cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au.

Great turn out to plan City Farm Summer Garden
Thanks to more than 26 dedicated community members who gave up their sunny Saturday morning on 13 October to help us plan the educational programs, design elements, produce and community involvement opportunities for the upcoming City Farm Summer Garden at Sydney Park.
After a quick site visit to the proposed site for the Summer Garden, (between the children’s playground and chimney precinct), the participants headed back to the Sydney Park Pavilion and got to work.
