The CBD & South East
Light Rail has taken another huge step forward with the first concrete base
slab poured into what will soon be a light rail tunnel underneath Moore Park.
Construction crews have
been busy excavating around 84,000 tonnes of fill to dig the nine-metre deep
tunnel, which will connect the recently installed Eastern Distributor Bridge
with the future stop at Moore Park.
The tunnel, which is
expected to be complete late 2017, will be more than 500 metres long connecting
to the recently installed Eastern Distributor Bridge and emerging at a new
future stop close to the Sydney Football Stadium and Sydney Cricket Ground. The
fill excavated for the tunnel will be re-used across the project.
