Transforming George Street

Transforming George Street

Australia’s global City, Sydney, deserves a world-class main street.  The City is working with the State Government to bring light rail to George Street, including pedestrianised sections between Bathurst Street and Hunter Street. This would create a safe and vibrant space for walking, light rail and business. To get involved with the transformation of Sydney's main street visit the Transforming George Street page.

Childcare for East Sydney

Childcare for East Sydney

To help meet the increasing need for childcare in East Sydney, the City of Sydney has purchased 277 Bourke Street, Darlinghurst and proposes to convert two floors into a not-for-profit long-day childcare centre. The building is situated across Berwick Lane from the John Birt Memorial Playground. This enclosed playground is currently used by Frances Newton Preschool and would provide the outdoor playspace for the proposed new centre.

For more information or to provide your feedback on the proposal contact Lise Morgan, Project Manager, 02 92467567, lmorgan@cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au.
